Did you know that if you leave the lid open on the washing machine, after adding the detergent and turning it on, it will stop at the drain cycle? I just went to the laundry room to put the clothes into the dryer to find that the lid was open and the clothes were waiting in the water. Unfortunately, this is the third time in the past year I’ve done that…I’m not getting Alzheimer’s, I’m not getting Alzheimer’s, I’m not getting Alzheimer’s is now my mantra!
I like variety, so we have several different salad dressings filling the refrigerator door. However, did you know they have expiration dates? Yep, last week I was going through them before dinner and found that out of eight bottles only two were okay. What a waste! Moral, buy small bottles of the stuff and not so many. Bummer!
I love green beans. They are my favorite green vegetable. Did you know you shouldn’t eat a whole can or two at a time? Bad idea. A couple years ago I made some yummy green beans with bacon/sugar/Pace’s mild, chunky salsa and saved the leftovers in a medium-sized container. I warmed them up and had them for lunch the next day. That evening I was punished with bathroom woes. Moral: Moderation in everything.
Did you know that you should dip your toothbrush in alcohol after brushing your teeth? This eliminates germs, especially when you’re sick. Otherwise, you can re-infect yourself. I always keep a bottle around for the grandkids, too, in case they have a cold when they are spending the night. It’s just a good precaution. I use the 90% variety, wondering why there are lesser amounts.
Speaking of germs, did you know that if you rub your eyes without washing your hands first, you can get sick? We are told to wash our hands whenever we have been around people or places with illnesses so that we don’t pass germs along through the mouth. However, rubbing your eyes when you have been exposed to illness or have thrown away your kid’s dirty tissue, etc. will get those germs into your system much faster and make sure you get sick. Of course, kids can’t wash their hands enough. They should wear gloves at all times and then take them off to rub their eyes. Yeah, right, like that’s going to happen!…I also Lysol the heck out of doorknobs, remotes, keyboards, faucet/toilet/refrigerator handles, and light switches during times of exposure.
