Mother’s Day

Mothers give without hesitation,
Over and over again.
They love with all their
Hearts and souls, and
Each one deserves to be
Remembered for their selfless devotion.

This is our Mom, who loved and nutured the six of us. Each one of us is very thankful and feels so blessed because of her. In return, we have given her 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loves equally, enthusiastically, and very, very well. But, that is not the end of it. Mom also welcomes every spouse and extended family member into her heart. Her address book and calendar are filled with everyone’s information; every person receives birthday and Christmas cards.

Three generations.                                                      Four generations.

Most of us live in Texas near our parents, but sister Leslie is in Tennessee. If our Kelsey family, in-laws, and extended families got together for one whopping reunion, there would be over 100 of us, enough to start a town. As it is, usually 30 of us gather for a birthday or holiday several times a year.

                                                                Mom and Dad.

Besides bringing up a family of characters, Mom found time to sew, crochet, and paint. She has painted hunting scenes, gardens, historical portraits, and almost everyone in the family – children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mom also does three other things quite well: cooking, gardening, and shopping. She still drives well and shops year-round for birthday and Christmas presents, although we have begged her not to burden herself so much. Several of the great-grandchildren know to make a bee-line to her closet to choose a toy, regardless of what week or month it is. She’s the ultimate spoiler!

Nobody can beat our Mom! She’s one of a kind! However, I am sure that millions of people around the world feel the same way about their mothers. At least I hope they do.
