*As noon approaches these days, my brain turns to mush and sweat instantly sheens my skin when I walk outside. Just walking from the front door to the car flushes my face; I am not a hot weather person. But, the heat is on, and it’s too darn hot with no relief in sight. I’m watering the potted plants every other day, but for some of them that does not seem to be enough. Even those full-sunlight ones look miserable…We’re down to once a week sprinklers. Without rain further restrictions will apply. Some people in the neighborhood gave up watering weeks ago.
*Did you watch the Republican debate Monday night? It bugs us to pieces that politicians – all politicians – cannot give direct answers. They immediately spout their speel, making every answer sound the same, as though their brains are locked on a few sentences. Like they are incapable of unplanned speeches or are afraid to ad lib. They say what they think we want to hear – the same o’ same o’. Why can’t they get it through their heads that we want real answers, not party lines? What do they really think? What will they really do? The generalization of every “plan” drives me crazy. If an issue is so important and they have had years to think about solutions, then why can’t they give us their step-by-step solutions? They don’t know. They either have no ideas or they are keeping them close to the vest so no one steals them. Pundits and their blah-blah rhetoric just complain and whine without putting anything substantive out there for us to study. Geez, they are nothing but broken records!!
*I am really tired of hearing children cry in stores and restaurants. It’s like their parents are ignoring their need to eat or nap. They go shopping or make dinner plans at times that do not jive with their children’s inner schedule. Then they get mad at their children for crying or having a fit. Children come first, otherwise what is the point in being a parent? Also, most children under age 4 cannot sit through a whole movie. Some young children do not like the dark, the big screen, the scary people/monsters, and/or the loud noises. Why don’t parents of toddlers and babies get babysitters or leave them with grandmas or aunts?
*Last week I took my oldest son, Jud, and his darlin’ girls, Ripley(3) and Harley(9 months) to the Landa Park pool. I wore one of my one-piece bathing suits that fit, but it was a couple years old. As we were leaving, I pulled at the leg openings and all the elastic went out, leaving my suit with a flappy bottom. Soooo, Monday I went looking for a new suit and found one at JCP’s, although there was slim-pickings. It is not a bikini but a two-piece and is totally unlike my other suits. The top covers my midrift and the bottom has a little flouncy skirt; you buy them separately so the fit is near perfect. I have not worn it yet, except to show Danny, who liked it. 🙂
