Explain to Me

Government spending is going to be cut, drastically in some areas. There is a lot of waste and misuse of spending – no doubt about that. However, cutting funding for government programs damages the country’s infrastructure and cuts thousands and thousands of jobs, public jobs. So explain to me, how do they have the audacity to complain about needing jobs created, when they are instigating the cutting of jobs and adding to the unemployment rolls?

Why don’t members of Congress put their money where there mouths are and take a 50% decrease in salary, plus a 50% decrease upon leaving Congress? Why are they given 100% of their salaries and health care for the rest of their lives?

Also, they could cut unnecessary overseas trips. The cabinet takes enough expensive trips. Why do Senators and Representatives have to do so as well, especially when where they go often has nothing to do with our country or issues? These taxpayer-paid adventures are a waste of money.

It is past time to eradicate the Medicare/Medicaid fraud that has been going on forever. Doctors, hospitals, and insurance companies are getting richer by overcharging and billing the government. Where is our system of checks and balances for such blatant duping?

Why do we taxpayers have to watch our bank account balances when the government doesn’t? Individuals do not get billions of dollars of credit; they have to fight for small loans. Explain to me, how the government can pledge millions of dollars in aid, when we are in debt and people are struggling?

Explain to me, how cutting education funding and teachers is going to help our students and this country? There is nothing more important to America’s future than productive young people; they are our future and we’re blowing it. Children who struggle in school will again fall by the wayside. Come on, you idiots in Congress and state legislatures, what are you thinking?

Why does government have to be run without common sense? Why don’t Senators and Representatives listen to reason, listen to economic experts, listen to scientists? Childish bickering is rampant and we, the people, are fed up with it! Where has the intelligence in Congress gone? Did members check it at the front door? Honestly, we are a pathetic excuse for a “super power!”

The blather and rhetoric that spews forth from all sides is sickening. The oath they swear to has become meaningless. Congress and the administration are in charge of this once-great country, and they do not GET that it is their job to do what is best for the ENTIRE United States of America, regardless of party lines and personal feelings. Grow up!

Get rid of the friggin’ lobbyists, special interests, pork bellies, tax loopholes,  and subsidies! Congress is filled with people who have no honor or integrity and cannot be trusted to do what is in everyone’s best interest. Reinstate the ceiling on campaign contributions. Really, what were they thinking? Certainly not about you or me – we, the population who inhabit this country, pay their salaries.

Let’s face it, the two-party system has not been working for quite a while. Both Democrats and Republicans accept money from special interests, so they are separated only in their ideology. But, money rules! It is time for a true grassroots movement to establish a viable third party. Some kind of common sense and centrist party that will rock the establishment and get stuff done. Not for the 2012 election, but maybe by 2016 or 2020.
