“One for the Money”

Janet Evanovich’s ONE FOR THE MONEY has finally been made into a movie by the same name! It was cute and amusing, like the book, although I hadn’t really envisioned Katherine Heigl as Stephanie Plum, Sherri Shepherd as Lula, or Debbie Reynolds as Stephanie’s crazy grandmother. However, since Heigl was also executive producer, it is probably safe to presume that she had no trouble seeing herself as Plum, an amateur bond-recovery agent with a wacky, small family.

“One for the Money” was a good introductory movie. It might even prompt some viewers to read some of Evanovich snappy offerings. Since she has written 18 Stephanie Plum quick-read mysteries, a “sequel” is most likely.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
